Agent Based Modeling (in Java)

I used an agent based model to examine the effects of social and group dynamics on rates of crime within and among municipalities. After a survey of the existing literature, I created a computer simulation based on interacting autonomous agents to simulate a few idealized interactions within a community that were hypothesized to have an affect on the crime rate. The model was able to replicate a random, unsettled rate of crime based on where the agents were, and how they interacted with each other. This provided evidence that some proportion of the large variance in crime rates in different areas of a city may have to do with social observation effects. If interested, feel free to check out my final report.
