Reporting Problems on Election Day in NYC

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Pollwatch project was developed as a simple way to allow citizens to report problems happening at voting sites in New York City. Starting as a hackathon project in conjunction with Websava and Common Cause NY, Pollwatch incorporates a mobile web application viewable on any phone that can connect to the web. It has been live for two elections and has solicited over 300 reports from citizens while voting. These reports were monitored by Common Cause volunteers and routed directly to NYC’s board of elections issue redressal officers. The data was also compiled and analyzed for trends, and compiled as a report.

MY ROLE

I served in many roles on this project, but principally as product manager. I designed the user experience of the application as well as the logo, and co-designed the website and information map, and led analysis and compilation of the findings report.
